Funny Bible?

Lots of people, Christians included, think that the Bible is just a big long boring book, with some good and helpful pieces strewn throughout.  I mean, have you ever tried to read the Bible cover to cover?  I have, and I’ve yet to finish even though I’ve probably started 10 or so times.  But it isn’t the Bible’s fault.  The Bible is chock full of some amazing stories that we overlook, some excellent lessons that we miss because of cultural differences, and even humor.  We’re kicking off the New Year with a look at some overlooked characters and stories from the Bible; and adding in a whole lot of humorous what ifs that the Bible doesn’t really get into.

While we may not specifically cover these topics, we’ll look at things and ask questions like: How did Peter’s wife feel about being left behind for Jesus?  When David was dancing naked in the streets, was that a sign of how we should be worshiping?  When big fat king Eglon got stabbed by Ehud, what happened to that missing dagger?  If the Israelites   walked the same wilderness circle for 40 years, and they didn’t have toilets, how much waste was produced, and where did it all go?

That last topic is more for middle schoolers, but you get the point.  There are an infinite amount of things we could ask about what the Bible has to say, and we’ll ask some of those questions in this new series Funny Bible?  We’ll also see how we can benefit from the mistakes and successes of the characters and stories we look at.
